SJMC Faculty Bios and Expertise
The University of Minnesota has long been recognized as one of the foremost institutions for the study of mass communication, due largely in part to the quality of its faculty members.
Reflected in the awards they have won, positions held in national and international organizations and their roles as editors, editorial board members and contributors to the top journals, our faculty provide a wealth of experience, expertise and viewpoints to SJMC students. This mix of historical, psychological, sociological, legal, philosophical, and even physiological perspectives fuels the innovative approach of the SJMC curriculum.
Under the leadership of director Al Tims, the SJMC faculty is comprised of 18 full-time faculty members and more than 30 adjunct instructors, who are professionals drawn directly from the Twin Cities' vibrant media community.
