SJMC Conference Center
The School of Journalism and Mass Communication Conference Center was completed in January 2000, as part of the $9.25 million Murphy Hall renovation project. The state-of-the-art conference center is the showpiece of the renovated Murphy Hall, serving as an outreach resource for internal and external groups for conferences, workshops and other activities.
Facilities: The conference center contains 32 seats, moveable tables with Internet connections, a rear-screen projected computer, DVD, VCR, cable TV, HDTV (broadcast and videotape playback) and a document camera. The conference center is also equipped for audio and video conferencing with two remote controlled cameras and a control room with switching equipment connected to three ISDN lines. Audience members can easily participate in any discussion with the desktop microphones.
Adjacent to the SJMC Conference Center is the Heggen Room, a smaller meeting/dining room that can accomodate groups up to 16. The Heggen Room features beautiful wood-paneled walls and ample space for catering and materials.
