The School of Journalism and Mass Communication is currently recruiting one Assistant Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication History and one Assistant Professor of New Media Journalism for full-time tenure-track positions to begin fall semester 2010. Appointment will be 100% time over the nine-month academic year. Appointment will be made at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Journalism, Mass Communication or relevant discipline, or other appropriate terminal degree (e.g., J.D., M.F.A.) by the date of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications: Meaningful professional journalism experience and the capacity to contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of a rapidly evolving new-media focused professional journalism curriculum.

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication accepts applications from individuals to become part-time or full-time teaching specialists (9754) or lecturers (9753) for positions that may open during the academic year or summer term. Periodically, the SJMC appoints experienced practitioners to supplement regular faculty in teaching, service, and/or outreach programs. These positions are temporary, annual renewable, professional academic appointments with renewal contingent upon funding availability, satisfactory performance, and SJMC mission and programmatic priorities. Salary range minimum is based on percentage appointment, qualifications and experience.
